LCI MELBOURNE 3RD YEAR SHOWCASE
This piece is titled Empathic Deniability. It is a social experiment in emotional intelligence. There are two structures, one voiced with external dialogue and the other voiced with internal dialogue. The external depicted actual things said to people living with HIV. The internal expressed the reaction to those seemingly painless phrases. To gather this information, I interviewed over two hundred people living with HIV around the world. The sound is housed in two triangular structures large enough to fit one person comfortably in each. The structures are lined with painted mirrors, with my signature paintings. I paint how I experience my synesthesia and the paintings connected to each structure represent my sensory reactions to each interview.
THE EXTERNAL SOUND
I will upload better documentation later, but for now, this will give you an idea of what it was like to experience this in person.
THE INTERNAL SOUND
I will also upload better documentation of this video when I get the formal documentation.
